Furnishing Your Living Room on a Budget
Whenever we get our carpet professionally cleaned, we’re forced to move our furniture to clear the way for the cleaners. And without fail, every time this happens, we get new ideas on how to arrange (and eventually rearrange) the furniture in our living room and other rooms.
Well, this last time, we decided to do something about it: we sold some of our existing furniture and got some cheap accent chairs that went perfectly with the lighting and size of the room. The chairs made the room comfortable yet still modern and appealing; these were the pieces that hold the room together.
To mix things up a little, next we bought some bold zebra furniture that is a departure from the mostly reserved, conservative furniture that used to make up our living room. The zebra furniture and accommodating décor is meant to bring some vibrant life into the room, and I must say, it works! We always get compliments on the furniture and guests love that the room has a zest and appeal that’s hard to pinpoint, but it’s there!
The last new additions to our living room: a chair and a half sleeper. It’s great because guests can have somewhere to relax after a long night of dinner and drinks; similarly, our kids have a place to lay comfortably when we are doing activities in the living room.
All in all, changing around our living room was a great idea, and I can’t wait to see what other home changes we have in store the next time we decide to get our carpets cleaned!
